If you are looking for work that provides you with the opportunity to help people lead more independent lives develop rewarding relationships, you may want to become a personal assistant.

A personal assistant—also known as a PCA or personal care attendant or direct support professional—helps individuals with disabilities perform daily living tasks in a wide variety of settings.

Most importantly, a PCA helps a person to live more independently and pursue activities in the community such as going to school or work.

A person who would be a good PCA is reliable, has patience, and feels that people with disabilities are entitled to the same respect and quality of life as anybody else.

If you are open-minded, flexible, and treat people the way you would like to be treated, then we are looking for you.

In Rhode Island you may work for private pay individuals or for people enrolled in PersonalChoice, PASS, or Respite. These three programs are consumer-directed programs for Medicaid eligible individuals with disabilities and/or their families.
